Chocolate is an important part of cuisine in Geneva, and Auer has a long heritage, founded by Henri Auer in 1939 and still a family business, currently helmed by Philippe Auer. Its many specialities include Pavé Glacé de Genève, invented by Henri in 1940; hand-coated black truffles; Ganaches with a praline and cream centre and a chocolate coating; and the amazing Amandes Princesse, roasted and caramelized almonds coated with a milk chocolate covering and dipped in cocoa powder. The store and café is open Monday 10am-6.45pm, Tuesday-Friday 8.30am-6.45pm, Saturday 9am-5.30pm, Sunday closed. In addition to the delectable chocolates, you can enjoy coffee, cappuccino, hot chocolate etc., though space is limited. Don’t leave the city without buying some of their chocolate almonds.
