Twice a year, in January and June, Florence becomes the setting for Pitti Immagine Uomo, an international show with a leadership position in the area of menswear and accessories. This year, the June event will be the 94th in its history, running from Tuesday 12th to Friday 15th. During this period, the city’s identity as a world-famous art centre is accompanied to perfection by the fashion sector, with a series of events taking place on the streets of the city centre, framing the focal point of Pitti Immagine Uomo which is at Fortezza da Basso. The concept for this year’s edition is Pitti Optical Power (P.O.P), a theme chosen in order to highlight new highlights of perception by means of a visual and virtual celebration. The theme includes the P.O.P. Arena, a new feature this year, comprising a leisure area decorated in op-art technicolor. The objective is to make the entire show more accessible, both for exhibitors and visitors.
The presentation of new trends in menswear fashion by means of a wide range of projects has always been at the heart of the event, right from its foundation in 1972. It offers a highly professional environment, reserved for trade professionals. It is the most important global meeting-place for buyers from all over the world, who are searching for the quality and style offered by international fashion brands, whether of consolidated fame or up-and-coming. The values underpinning Pitti Immagine are innovation, research, independence, expertise and international status. In this year’s June event, 1,240 brands, of which 561 from countries outside Italy, will be taking part, presenting their latest products. They include some of the most prestigious brands, along with the champions of new classics, brands who specialize in contemporary sportswear, and yet others which are creating new interpretations in the area of athleisure and outdoor wear.
The latter theme is evoking a great deal of interest amongst the general public, and Pitti Immagine have responded with the I GO OUT project, which will be presented at Sala della Ronda. It focuses on the idea of expressing the passion for outdoor sports and contact with the natural environment, and combining it with the latest stylistic research. A keenly-felt aspect of this theme is the need to develop a new balance between man and nature by means of products that combine quality, durability and design.
